LGBT Laws
April 9th, 2010Although many within the LGBT community are passionately fighting to get a number of new LGBT laws to be passed, there have been some advances that have been made in this fight throughout the years. One of the newest LGBT laws to be passed is a benefit for LGBT elders. There has been a presented growing issues of LGBT seniors not being able to get the equal access that they need to senior care facilities. Many elder LGBT members had felt that housing facilities had discriminated against them because they belong to the LGBT community. The state of California most recently decided that they must address the issue. They implemented LGBT laws in the state that stated that the licensed health care professionals at these elder care facilities must undergo diversity training. This is one of the LGBT laws that was formulated in order to eliminate the instances of bias that have been previously carried out.
The Early Beginnings of the Gay Rights Movement

Essentially, the gay rights movement was initiated in order to bring equality to those that felt that they had no other means to obtain it. They figured that the only way that they would be able to obtain their gay rights is to make sure that their voices were heard. For the originators of the gay rights movement, they learned that the only way that they were going to even be granted a chance to have the same liberties and freedoms of the heterosexuals of society is to present the problem. Let the public know that they are not getting the gay rights that they deserve. They intended to open up the door to the gay community to those that were willing to support them in fighting for what they believed in. After they were able to raise the awareness level about the gay rights issue, they decided that they may let their voices be heard, more abundantly, to the government officials that had the authority to evoke change.
