Gay Rights

The gay rights movement was created in order to obtain equal rights of those that belong to the gay community. Essentially, the gay rights movement was initiated in order to bring equality to those that felt that they had no other means to obtain it. They figured that the only way that they would be able to obtain their gay rights is to make sure that their voices were heard. For the originators of the gay rights movement, they learned that the only way that they were going to even be granted a chance to have the same liberties and freedoms of the heterosexuals of society is to present the problem. Let the public know that they are not getting the gay rights that they deserve. They intended to open up the door to the gay community to those that were willing to support them in fighting for what they believed in. After they were able to raise the awareness level about the gay rights issue, they decided that they may let their voices be heard, more abundantly, to the government officials that had the authority to evoke change.

Hints of the gay right movement stem back to the 1920s, but there are still many that feel as though their gay rights have yet to be recognized. Thus, the gay rights movement, rages on. The gay community will not give up the fight until the day that they may truly say that their gay rights have been successfully met. Back in the 1920s, the gay rights movement was believed to have initiated its start. Nevertheless, the gay rights campaign that was waged is not common knowledge. This is because gay rights is yet to be a concept that is discussed in the 5th grade history books. However, it was said that in the year of 1924, the very first documented gay rights organization was formed. The gay rights organization was based out of Chicago, and was called The Society for Human Rights. It is believed to be the founder of the gay rights movement. Due to the title of the gay rights organization, it is fair to say that even back in the 1920s, obtaining gay rights was viewed as obtaining a human right. The title implies that the feeling of the people was that the gay community felt as though they were not being offered the freedoms that the country was supposed to be built upon. Therefore, they decided that they must take action.

The Society for Human Rights was said to have so much promise, but it eventually faded away. It is said that this was as a result of the constant arrests that were made of members of the group. Despite this factor, many have deemed the Society of Human Rights as being a small group, but a highly influential group of the gay rights movement. This was the first organization that was formed in order to take a stand for equal gay rights. It showed as the budding example of what the gay rights movement could bring.
